Spend enough time earning your living behind a lens in Atlantic Canada and you learn to see with two sets of eyes. There is the world we sell full of lighthouses and lobster rolls, and the world we live in.
Form / Terrain is an attempt to distill the landscapes of this region to their purest forms: geometric fields of color, shape, and texture.
My focus is the unbuilt environment — the negative space that presses against our lives. Not just the ocean, but all the indifferent geometries that shape our psychology. The natural walls, floors, and ceilings that house us as Atlantic Canadians.
There is a working-class gravity I want to hold onto. A lone tamarack erupting like an orange flame against a dormant thicket. A single figure navigating an immense, ink-dark expanse of water. Isolation and endurance are not just themes here; they are how we live.
This is an exercise in stripping away the noise to honor the quiet, unyielding weight of this place.
